Workin' for the Weekend
July 1, 2011
4th of July weekend is here... Woo hoo!
Is anyone else excited for the weekend? If you are, give me a, "Woop woop!"
Seriously. Do it. Out loud. Right now. Make everyone around you wonder...
I have to confess... I'm mostly happy about this weekend because it looks like I'm actually going to get to spend some time with my husband! We weren't sure if he'd end up working or not. However, since the storm clouds are gathering today, and wet conditions mean most farm-related operations come to a halt, it looks like we're all clear for a few days of togetherness.
Man, oh man... We need it. He needs it. Mr. Blue Eyes... He's been a hard workin' man. He's always a hard workin' man, but lately, he's been especially busy. With my weird health problems, the busy farming season, activities and obligations, and all the maintenance that living on a farm entails, he's been steady as a rock.
Except for a few days ago, when he got motion sickness from driving around in a rough field and threw up two times.
But other than that?
Rock steady.
He deserves a little down time, and I'm hoping this weekend is a good break for him.
(By the way, for me, the term 'break' means thumbing through magazines, painting my toenails, and daydreaming about designing my imaginary lake cottage. For him, the term 'break' means working on some project, running around wildly with the kids, most likely doing some heavy lifting of some sort, and fixing things around the farm. I just thought you should know we're different in that way. You may have ascertained this conclusion on your own already.)

How about you? What do you have going on? We've got a few destinations and projects to work on, but we'll be in and out and able to check the internet, so if you stop in, tell me what you're up to!

Holidays,
Mr. Blue Eyes

Your weekend sounds so nice and relaxing. We're finally getting some summer weather, so we'll be floating in the pool a lot this weekend and grilling out and relaxing too.
You are such a darling couple!!!
Yay for a weekend together. Hope you grill up some burgers and have a few salads and WATERMELON!!!
OK, now I've planned your menu you should be good.
I think all of us cold weather folks LOVE the 4th. We know what's around the corner so we suck all the marrow out of the summer and the 4th is the epitome of summer.
Hope your symptoms are going away!
I guess your weekend didn't quite turn out like you predicted. Darn mother nature!!! I really do pray you and your famlly are doing ok with all the damage and I am so grateful you are all safe. Talk to you soon.
Gorgeous pic of you both, and you idea of a relaxing weekend compared to his is EXACTLY like mine & my hubby's! Even with his damaged spine, he still has to do "stuff" - relentlessly!
Mr. Blue Eyes sure did not get any rest. A project and fixing stuff around the farm, almost sounds prophetic lookin back.
