Why Don't You Stay
February 16, 2011 About a week ago, I stepped outside the door and heard the sweetest song I'd ever heard...
Birds singing in the grove!
Halleluia!
They hadn't all frozen solid!
Their sweet little voices tickled my happy bone.
And today, I saw this...
Birdies! Scoping out our bird house.
(Background story on the bird house... My dad made it a few years back, before he passed on, and my mom gave it to us last summer. Technically it's a 'purple marlin' house -- a type of bird, in case you're not familiar -- but at this point I'm open to whoever wants to establish squatters rights. I'm an equal opportunity bird house owner.)
I got a kick out of watching them check the place out. It was like a bird version of House Hunters...
"What'd'ya think, Marge? Sure is roomy."
"Sure is, Hank. And look at the view!"
"It needs a new coat of paint, though. These door holes look a little dated."
"Mmm hmm. And, um, hon? I'm a little worried about the neighborhood riff raff..."
"Oh, goodness. We'll have to talk to the realtor about that. Now come on... Let's go check out the master bird bath!"
It's been a long winter. Don't judge me. A girl has to keep herself occupied.

Oh, I am desperate to hear a robin singing in my yard. Saw a couple flocks of geese flying overhead this morning, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all those feathered beauties are on their way back to PA.
oh, you are just too cute! It is always so nice to see birdies! Please spring come fast!!!
There are big flocks of migrating birds around here starting to head north - maybe they are coming your way?
OK! That was about the cutest post ever.
The bird was totally checking out the digs!
Hilarious.
I too long for some Spring!
Let us know how the renting turns out.
Hope the bird moves in soon.
