Whiskey Barrels & Dandelions
May 20, 2011 It's Friday night.
Been a long, hard week.
The whiskey barrel was calling my name.
(Hiccup.)
Okay, okay. No, not that whiskey barrel.
This...
...whiskey barrel!
I finally had a moment this evening to get my new plants in it, and it made these tired eyes hap-hap-happy.
But...
Ugh.
It was just one of those kind of weeks.
It wasn't bad. It just was. Kinda long. Kinda demanding. Not really all that different than most weeks; but one of those weeks where you find that you weren't quite as equipped to get through it all as well as you thought you were.
Does that make any sense?
Ah, whatever... It's Friday night. No one expects me to make any sense anyway, right?
So, tonight it felt just plain good to get outside and get my hands a little dirty. Just a little. Just a little whiskey barrel flower planting. It was a mildly rainy day, which actually felt like a really good note to end the week on, and the misty evening air was refreshing.
I had to take a couple pictures of my girl...
...hanging around and picking dandelions.
My babies just loooove picking dandelions. Then they bring them to me and we collect them in little piles.
I'm not about to tell them to stop.

They think dandelions are beautiful, and I just... I just... I just say a little prayer that they will always find beauty among what others might view as 'weeds'.
Sorry. It's Friday night... I'm tired and getting sentimental.
And sleep-sleep-sleepy.
Off I go... To drift off to dandelion dreams.

Let's have a good weekend, all!

Little Peaches has gotten so big!!!!
She's such a precious little thing.
No, your Friday nightness made total sense!
Glad you were able to get your fingers grimy and dirty and get some beauty planted. We need a couple of HOT HOT days and the flowers will go nuts! I'm ready for the sun. I'd love to be planting stuff too.
Hope you have a fabulous weekend and get to sleep deeply!

I love your whiskey barrel ! So beautiful! I have to agree with Tauna. Peaches is getting so big and still as cute as ever! Hope you have a really, really, great weekend!
your pics look so bright and vibrant! and the subject matter is pretty darn cute too! we're getting super excited to see y'all, even if it is still a couple o' months away :) coincidentally, I had the same dandelion epiphany with our kids just the other day!
dandelions + children = beauty. dandelions - children = obnoxious, unstoppable weed
i have my own dandelion pics i've got to post this week. of course they involve children. :)
