Whiskers on Kittens

Alright. I'm just gonna say it.

I did it.

Today.

I busted out the Christmas music.

Somehow I went from hardly accepting the fact that summer was over to singing along to Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

And I don't care who knows it.

Since I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy, and since Oprah is hosting her 'Favorite Things' show today, and since I just realized that I didn't know my husband's favorite Thanksgiving dish is turkey, I thought it would be fun to do a post about a few of my favorite things.

That's right, Oprah.

I'm beating you to the punch.

Yet I feel confident that you will have a slightly larger audience.

My list is not going to really be Christmas-related. Just a smattering of things that I love and enjoy. Some trivial. Some not.

#1: Favorite Movies: Serendipity, Something's Gotta Give, Meet the Parents, Marley & Me and The Wedding Planner.

I know. This is a shameless display of love for 'chick flick' movies. But it's an ugly truth. Though I generally think of myself as a woman of substance, I have a certain vulnerability for certain chick flicks. I actually think it has more to do with the catchy music that always seems to be playing the background more than anything. I'm very susceptible to pretty music.

#2: Favorite Sound of Someone's Voice: my husband, Robert Redford and Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs.

I just thought this would be fun to throw in since, as I just mentioned, I'm easily impressioned by sounds. It's not limited to music. The sound of my own voice, however, I am not all that fond of. But I think this is kind of true of most of us, isn't it? Does anyone out there like the sound of their own voice?

#3: Favorite Season: Spring.

This has already been documented.

#4: Favorite Love Song: Pour Some Sugar On Me by Def Leopard.

Hah! Gotcha.

Not so much.

Like the movies, this is hard to pick just one, but I can at least narrow it down to a few... Moonlight Serenade, Moon River, It's Your Love by Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, Crazy Love by Aaron Neville, 'Till Summer Comes Around by Keith Urban and Home by Michael Buble.

I don't know if can say these are absolutely my favorites, but they are the ones that, when they come on, make me stop for a moment, close my eyes, and sigh.

#5: Favorite Bible Verse: the one just to the left here, on my sidebar. Hebrews 12:1-3. It reminds me to rejoice in what God has given me, yet not become stagnant in complacency.

#6: Favorite Hymn: right now it's When We All Get to Heaven.

Every time I think of this song, I just envision my entire family and all those I love rejoicing in heaven together. We have so much fun here on earth; what more joy might be gained in heaven? I marvel at the thought.

#7: Favorite Christmas Songs (since they're playing in the background): What Child is This? and The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)

For most of these, they are not hard and fast rules... Just the ones that appeal to my fickle nature at the moment.

Other than the sound of Mr. Blue Eyes' voice. That one is etched in my heart forever.

Now, in case you've forgotten, this week you all have a chance to win your choice of one of these two things...

Williams-Sonoma Farm Animal Pancake Molds
