We're a Passionate People

Back in 2005 my mom and my brother had a terrible falling out at a family get-together. "You need to stop wearing that ridiculous red bandana on your head!" she yelled. "I'll wear what I wanna wear!" he screamed back.

The whole incident was really quite ugly.

What can I say? We are a passionate people.

Or, I'm making all of this up.

Okay, you caught me.

This was my submission for the I ♥ Faces photo challenge this week. The theme was 'outtakes'.

This photo is my favorite photo. Ever.

Always will be.

Forever.

And ever.

It makes me laugh every time I look at it.

We were all up at my other brother's lake cabin for a weekend birthday celebration. It was the middle of July. It was really hot and humid and really humid and really hot and really humid. And hot. And in the heat of the day, my brother, the birthday boy, roped us all into playing a lot of crazy games that involved running around, spitting, and as illustrated in the photo above, a cracker eating contest.

(By the way, the photo is of my brother showing my mom -- the judge -- that his mouth was empty before moving onto the next phase of the competition. I just happened to click my shutter at precisely the moment that they most looked like primates screeching at one another.)

Oh, and we all had these bandanas on our heads -- either red or tye-dye -- to tell which team we were on.

Very stylish. Not only are we passionate; we are also fashion forward. We may as well be Italian.

This weekend at the lake was also the first time that Burley attempted swimming.

This was also the last time that Burley attempted swimming.

He is not a water dog. We never had any illusions that he was, but his thrashing and leaping through the water confirmed our suspicions.

This was also the weekend that he met his soul mate...

Nala.

If only he weren't neutered and she weren't spayed... Oh, the beautiful babies they could make.

Because there just aren't enough dogs in our family already.

That picture is funny! I seriously thought there was some anger going on! Can you see his jugular vein about to pop? Wow.
Awesome.
Sorry about the spastic dog not swimming, cause I thought that was something that all dogs did. Poor thing.
They would make beautiful babies.
