Tomatoes
September 8, 2010 I planted a garden this year.
Have I mentioned it?
And in it, I planted tomatoes.
Have I mentioned it?
The other morning, I went out and picked these...

I was at one with my garden and together with the vegetables, we celebrated our triumph over the weeds. It was pure bliss.
I don't know if I've ever seen anything more beautiful. Not only are they eye candy, but you can pop them in your mouth like candy, and it's a rare end-of-summer treat. Simply sweet and wonderful.
First we have...

...yellow pear.
These used to be my favorite. But now I'm not sure they are anymore. We'll get to the reason why in just a minute.
There's also...

...chocolate cherry. These were the first to arrive, and I must tell you I anticipated their arrival all summer long, and they were worth the wait. They're kind of mellow and sweet.

A couple different varieties of red cherry tomatoes and some larger grape tomatoes.

Super snow white. Very mellow little gals.

Good ol' romas. I probably like using romas the best, since they're firm and meaty and hold up well to just about anything you want to do with them.

I think these are yellow brandywine, but I can't remember for sure. These and the romas I bought as plants, and the stakes are now buried underneath the bushes somewhere. (I started all the others from seed.) I know I say this about all of them, but these are really, really good.

And bi-color cherry. I think these may have been my favorite, in terms of flavor. But it's hard to say. They're all so good. And unique. And delicious.
There was one, however, that stood out above the others...

I know.
It's quite shocking.
It startles me everytime I open the refrigerator.
So you see why I'm a little confused about my feelings for yellow pear tomatoes at this point.
I've mentioned before that I talk to my vegetables, but for the first time, a vegetable has left me utterly speechless.
I must now go fan myself.

OK, I showed this post to the girls in the ER.
They too, are totally speechless.
As in...............we see all sorts of stuff...........seriously.
But YOU have left us speechless.
I have a bad feeling that this tomato may make me famous. And I really don't want to be famous for having an, ahem, 'odd' shaped tomato!
Seriously - that is a ton of tomatoes! Are you intending making relish etc?
Okay - off to have a little lay down after that last pic...*phew*
That's a lot of Ta'Mater's! That last one is something else, isn't it?
