This Morning
June 17, 2010
This morning... I find myself finding a small piece of peace for myself. Found. Me. Some peace.
(I'll take it... Even if it's brief.)
The kids are sleeping in.
I slept in a little bit.
A gentle breeze is blowin' through the windows.
And the coffee is brewing.
Even the doggies are at peace...

And the horses as well...

I also awoke to the sight of this...
My first landscaping effort. This makes me injuriously happy.
Happy, well, because it's my first little landscape attempt and my first time planting bushes, and I'm just so pleased with how it turned out. (Except, as you can see, it's not quite finished... I need to go purchase some more rock to finish it up.)
Injurious because we took on this project spur-of-the-moment at about 8:00 last night, purchased the materials (minus some river rock), came home and went for broke until it was finished (minus some river rock). I was so inspired to get it all put together, I didn't even mind the trench digging, raking, hole digging, rock lifting, bending, stooping and straining until I climbed into bed and realized I had almost thrown my back out again.
I'm learning I'm not quite as spry as I used to be.
Anyhow, when I walked out the door this morning and looked at it, I felt happy. Not because I've achieved landscape genius; but because I had given this little area a lot of thought, given the bush selection and materials a lot of thought, and now here it all was, come to fruition.

I love it when good things come to fruition.

Oh how fun!! Looking good so far! And you are right, that first picture you have posted is so peaceful.
Ah, peace. I look forward to awaking to the same thing tomorrow morning... minus the wonderful landscaping. I spent a week in PA visiting family before we move a gazillion miles away to El Paso... so not a peaceful week. But I came home to discover that my husband has off tomorrow (he stayed here while I was away) so we get to sleep in and enjoy a nice, peaceful day together! Hooray!
P.S. I can't wait to see your finished landscaping efforts... you had better post a picture! I love what you have done to that little spot, it looks great! Even if it is missing some rocks at the moment... just don't tell my daughter about them... she is at this stage where she loves rocks. It's cute but can be annoying sometimes. "Rock. Rock. Rock. Rock. Mom, ROCK!" ......... Sorry, I'm easily distracted. I'll go to bed now. PEACE out. (Again, distracted.... sorry!)
I wish our yard looked half that nice - 'D&L Landscaping' - I'll order the caps!
I'm glad you found some peace. It looks so beautiful...that I think I found some peace too!
Thank you very much my friend.
I love your landscaping. Sorry about the back. You should really be careful.
HUGS!
Oh, this is too funny, because just last night at 9:15 pm I ran into town to Wal-mart to purchase more landscaping cloth because we have a project going on ourselves and I knew we wanted to work on it today after work and Saturday. I just finished a post on it as well. When we get a portion complete it just feels so good and I just stare at it for awhile to cherish the hard work... and Marty is like, "What are you looking at for so long?" Your family will have to visit us soon (and us visit you). -Terri
Most ironic - I spent hours yesterday cleaning, digging and planting in a little space of the garden here as well. And how the body is reminding me of that today :-0
