This Blows

I had full intention of writing a 'poor me' post about how my kids and I are sick.

There was going to be whining.

Moaning.

Sobbing.

Agonizing over the plight of the mother... To call the doctor or not? To take them in or not? Are they getting bronchitis? Pneumonia? Malaria? Spotted duck dog fever?

A big ol' pity party.

But you know what?

I'm not gonna do it.

Why?

(I love it when I ask myself questions in your stead.)

Because I was reminded there are too many people in the world with bigger problems that I've got -- by far -- and therefore, complaints from me to you just will not do. I'm bucking up.

I do want to say thank you, however, to those of you who have dropped in supportive comments. Your kind words are truly appreciated. And just as an update... Little Blue Eyes finally turned the corner last night, his fever broke, and he is feeling much better today. Miss Peaches... Not so much. She's in the thick of it now. But she's a resilient little munchkin, and she's toughing it out like a champ.

We have some sort of nasty virus, by the way, in case you were wondering what it is I'm not going to whine about.

Instead, today I am going to count my blessings. Because I didn't get around to putting up a scriptural quote yesterday, and because it's a good way to start your week, and because I don't do it enough.

I'm going to limit myself to 10... Not because there aren't more than 10, but because if I don't limit myself, I might never stop..... which is...... a blessing in itself.

Numero 1: Knowing Jesus Christ as my personal savior, and my saving grace. It's all for naught without Jesus.

Numero 2: My husband, my children, family and friends. I don't write this lightly. I am keenly aware of what a blessing these people are.

Numero 3: Coffee. There is coffee in my life. Coffee always seems to make everything o.k. ;)

Numero 4: My children and I are going to get better. No hospitalizations. No doctor visits, even. (Although I did make a call.) No medical bill.

Numero 5: Mr. Blue Eyes passed his CDL driving test last week! I am very proud.

Numero 6: Chocolate. There is chocolate in my life.

Numero 7: Lotion-infused Kleenex and children's Tylenol.

Numero 8: My poor mama, who is going to find herself in yet another one of my photography posts.

Numero 9: My poor sisters, who are also going to find themselves in yet another one of my photography posts.

Numero 10: This blog. That's right! It started out as a creative outlet when I was badly needing one, and was part of the merging of hobbies -- writing and photography -- that I could do in short spurts of time and sometimes with one hand (when there was a baby latched on). Now, however, it has become more... Still a creative outlet, but it's a place where I can go to relate to other women, get support and feedback, learn a thing or two about a thing or two, and just generally feel at home. I love it, and I love you for reading it.

Now I'm off to go blow my nose. And begin the painful process of weaning my children off popcicles for breakfast. Uffda.

I hope all of you get feeling better SOON! If I lived nearby I would be heading over with homemade chicken noodle soup, fresh bread and two willing elbows to do your laundry.
HUGS!

I'm glad the end appears to be in sight for one and it must be getting close for Miss Peaches too. Good luck with the Popsicles though. ;)
