Thirty-One Days of Thankful: The Launch

This weekend we will go and cut our Christmas tree, and all the rich earthy tones of the fall/harvest decorations in our home will be traded out for the more festive red and green decorations of Christmas and winter. I was thinking about this today as I looked at this 'Give Thanks' decoration in our house. I was thinking how I'm not ready to pack it away yet; how I like how that little reminder has been hanging around our house for the last couple months.

Then I had an idea. An epiphany. A revelation. A whatever-you-want-to-call-it...

What if the month of December was all about giving thanks?

If you happen to have read Ann VosKamp's book, One Thousand Gifts, you'll remember that the central theme of being thankful -- in everything -- is directly tied to experiencing God's grace and joy. And if you happen to have been reading certain blogs during the month of October, such as this one, you might have noticed some bloggers did 31 days of writing on a particular subject.

So, basically I'm taking these ideas and spinning them into my own little project. I'm a copy cat. And I'm behind schedule. But I'm right on time for the month of December and the Christmas season, and it just feels like the thing to do, so I'm running with it. I can't think of a better way to spend the days leading up to Christmas, and ringing in a new year.

Here's the dealio... I'm hoping that YOU will run with it too! As my posts of thankfulness pop up, feel free to leave comments about what you're thankful for too! It's good to give thanks together.

Be back later with my first installment of 'Thirty-One Days of Thankful'.
