Thirty-One Days of Thankful: Little Business
December 19, 2011
It seems I may have picked a bad month to attempt to post daily for thirty-one days straight. Evidently December is a busy time of year (did you know this?), which seems to have slipped my mind when I embarked upon this little project. I think having most of my Christmas shopping done early in the month gave me a false sense of reality that the countdown to Christmas would just be one long, slow, relaxing ride.
It has not been.
I forgot to take into account all the social gatherings.
And church service preparations
And cookie baking.
And colds/flu that seem to circulate in and out of our household on a regular basis.
And preparation of Christmas cards to send out.
And wrapping of presents.
And the fact that we work five days a week, and since my work is child care, I have five little ones to feed, wipe, teach and care for on a daily basis.
I don't know what world I was livin' in when I came up with this idea! It wasn't this one. I am, however, still committed, even though I'm having to cheat wildly and list multiple things on one day instead of one thing each day. It works. I'm determined... Because I surely have thirty-one things (plus a thousand) to be thankful for, and quite frankly, this whole 'being in a state of thankfulness' thing is a pretty good place to be.
So, today I'm going to cheat again and list four things, to catch me up from last week. But it's pretty easy, because the things are not 'things'; they're my little people.
My peeps.
The little ones I roll with from day to day.
My daycare kiddos.
I never write about them, and I especially never show pictures, because they're not my children and I just don't feel I have the right to do that. So I will keep it vague, but I can't list off thankfulness without including them and their families, because they truly do make my world go 'round. I feel like they are an extension of our family. I'm thankful for...
1. Toddler #1, who is a sweet little boy and cracks me up with the things he says. This morning he came running in the kitchen and yelled at me, "H, I, J! H, I, J!" That's one of the joys of these little people... You just never know what they're going to come up with.
2. Toddler #2, who delights me with her snuggles and sheer determination to climb on everything. She also brings me about fifty random things each day, after which she always says, "Thkyou."
3. Baby #3, who is Toddler #1's new little brother, and fills our days with baby smells and coos and all things that make babies wonderful.
4. Their wonderful families, who are a joy to be around.
In this area, I am richly blessed. And thankful.

Such a cute post. The parents of those little ones that you babysit are blessed. To have someone like you who loves their little ones...........that is priceless.
