Then and Now... and random Saturday rambling.
February 28, 2009
The other day I took some pictures of Miss Peaches (on the right, above) wearing this little CSU shirt while sitting on our bed, and after looking at them I realized that I had taken the same, identical picture of Little Blue Eyes sitting on our bed when he was about the same age. So, I thought it would be fun to place them side by side.
I find myself having these flashbacks more often, now that Miss Peaches is getting to a more interactive age... Remembering seeing Little Blue Eyes go through the same stages, and sometimes, like above, the parallels are confounding.
It makes me think how, a couple years ago when Little Blue Eyes was being photographed for this picture and Miss Peaches was but a twinkle in my eye, we had no idea that she would, just two short years down the road, be such an integral part of our lives. It makes me wonder what beautiful thing might be on the horizon for us two years from now.
God is good, and though this life is hard, He sure does give us some wonderful gifts.
Speaking of which, an update on the Backflow situation... We took Miss Peaches to the doctor again yesterday because she was acting fussy and running a low fever and I was worried she was on her way to another U.T.I. They took a sample and we will know early next week if she is getting one, but they also told us that it looks like her backflow problem (or vesicoureteral reflux, for all you smarties with large vocabularies out there) is milder than they first thought and she will not have to go on a daily low dose of antibiotics for six months to a year, as we previously thought. I said it looks like this is the case, but we still have to consult with a urologist to get their opinion. Still, it was a bit of unexpected good news that we were happy to get.
This morning, Mr. Blue Eyes is off making ends meet while I am keeping the home fires burning, and partaking in our Saturday morning ritual of watching 'Dirty Jobs.' I don't think I've ever told you how much I love this show. It's my favorite, next to General Hospital of course. However, I love them for totally different reasons... While I love GH because it's completely beyond the realm of reality, I love Dirty Jobs because it is completely the reality of the world in which we live. Some day I'll ramble on about the deep places in my psyche that cause me to love it so. I will... Wait and see. I've got deep thoughts regarding Dirty Jobs.
Well, I shall not hold you in the snares of my rambling any longer. I'm sure you've got much bigger and better plans for your Saturday. Thanks for hanging in, though.

I thought it *was* the same baby until I looked at what you wrote! My now 3yo has/had kidney reflux and we wound up doing the Deflux injections after a long time on the daily abx. Glad it sounds like you got good news on this as the milder the case, the more likely it is to be outgrown.
Yes, we're hopeful that the urologist agrees with our pediatrician that is a mild case. I guess I hadn't heard about the Deflux shots... I'll have to look into that just in case we have to consider it down the road. We're praying not, but it's good to be informed.
I hope all is well with your sweet little lady.
And as for Dirty Jobs....I LOVE that show. Yeah, yeah, yeah - it's real life and real work that happens every day, but my thoughts don't run any deeper than that. Honestly, I watch it to look at Mike Rowe! LOL
