The Women

Alright, it's official.

In my mind, I have hurdled right over Thanksgiving and headlong into Christmas.

I called one of my sisters last night and said, "Is it too early to start decorating for Christmas?" She laughed and said, "I've been decorating all day."

It's always good to know you're not alone.

However, I feel the need to backtrack just a bit. I just can't let Thanksgiving fade into the background. Thanksgiving deserves its due, and there are so many things I am thankful for.

No, scratch that. There are so many people I am thankful for.

I'm pretty sure you all know how much I love my husband; how thankful I am for him. It has been addressed. It will be addressed again in the future, quite possibly ad nauseum. And then my brother will stop reading my blog. Again.

However, tonight I wanted to say how thankful I am for the women in my life. Have you ever seen that movie The Women with Meg Ryan, Annette Benning, Candice Bergen, etc...? The one where there are no men in the entire movie? (Until the very end when a little baby boy is born. Awww.)

Well, sometimes I can relate to that movie.

Not because my husband is cheating on me with a perfume saleswoman.

(Although his coworker sprayed him with some perfume just last week to get him in trouble with me. Or did he? What a strange coincidence. Or is it? Good thing I know when he's telling the truth and when he's lying. Or do I?)

Anyhow, the reason why I sometimes relate to this movie is because, day-to-day, when Mr. Blue Eyes is off at work and doing manly things, I find myself mostly in the company (in person or over the phone) of the women in my life. Family, friends, and even you readers. It's a strong sisterhood of ladies that I am blessed with. And it struck me just this week that these women... are actually... my heroes.

These women are my heroes, not because they possess super powers or don spandex costumes. Or at least not that I know of. They are my heroes because, quite literally, they save me.

They save me from so many things.

They save me from myself.

Just when my mind is on overdrive and I'm lost in my myriad of thoughts and emotions, God puts just the right woman in my path, and she tells me just what it is that God needs me to know to get through it.

So, all I really want to say is, "Lord, thank You for the women. Amen."

Now... Last chance! Leave a comment on this post before midnight tonight (and/or any other post I've written on the Ramblings page this week) and you will be entered to win my anniversary giveaway!

Do it.

'Cause I'm thankful for you.

And I want to give you something. :)

That is so well put. I have to agree. Of course it's women that save your sanity, women are the only ones who know just how truly close to crazy we are most of the time.

Hope you have a great Thanksgiving week!

I'm grateful I got to know you oh so briefly during your time in Colorado. My sister and I both were so thankful for your musical talent and how you slid right into the musical program of our little church. God's timing is perfect!

I don't have any sisters, but have always been grateful for the women friends I have been able to keep over the years, even one from the second grade!
