The Elusive Indigo Bunting

Shhhhhh.

The elusive indigo bunting...

...is sitting at my bird feeder right now.

I love their color.

I love their name.

I love the word 'indigo'.

And I especially love the word 'bunting'.

I even love the word 'elusive'.

And while I'm mentioning words I love, I also really love the name 'Francisco'. Not to name one of my children, really, but just to say it. I love the way it rolls off my tongue.

On the other hand, I hate the word 'tissue'. I don't know why.

But I seem to be veering off course. Where was I?

Oh yes...

The. Elusive.

Indigo.

Bunting.

Bunting, bunting, bunting.

The lovely little bird that is sitting at my feeder right now. It is the final nail in my coffin when it comes to bird watching.

I'm hooked.

I'm addicted.

Send help.

Or send someone who wants to cook and watch my kids while I'm bird watching.

I'm not particular.

Well, I wanna come. But I don't wanna watch the kids. I wanna watch birds!
Beautiful!!!
We are still too cold here for any wildlife (well except for the moose two weeks ago) so the poor
birds don't know what to think. They are probably shivering in their little nests.

What kind of a zoom did you use?

Wow, those photos are beautiful. I love birds. I live in a suburban area right now and am about to move to the city (not my choice - stupid Army) so such beautiful wildlife is few and far between. A chipmunk lives in my garage and I see some robins every once in a while but that's about it. Growing up in the country I used to see all kinds of animals, boy do I miss that! I'll be glad when my husband retires in about... 13 years and 2 months! We'll either move back to rural PA (my home state) or Arkansas (his home state). Either one will make me happy!

Until then, please... continue posting photos of beautiful birds and some of your plants when they start to grow. They remind me of home.

That's how I always feel when I see my hummingbird. : ) Yes, I said MY hummingbird, because he surely comes around just to please me. Right?

Tauna - I used a nikor 70-300 mm lens. Sorry to hear you are still chilly out there!

Rayleigh's Mom - I am so glad that my pictures remind you of home. Since I'm here all the time, I kind of take it for granted and forget that not everyone has the same kind of view out their front door.

Michelle - Ha, ha. You make me laugh! It's only because I'm the same kind of 'crazy'... I like to think that the hummingbirds and finches and all the other birds appreciate me for feeding them. Do you think they only like me for my nectar? ;) Eh, whatever... As long as they let me look at them, I'm happy!

Wow, great shots of the indigo bunting. I mean great pictures..."shots" just doesn't sound right for some reason! ;)

The elusive indigo is well, just beautiful.
Throw some stuff in a crock pot. Get binoculars. Keep the camera close! Enjoy the wonder of His creation.
Love the way your mind is working and wandering...an affirmation for me that I am not crazy!
Hope you see lots of indigos and other great birds today.

What a pretty pretty bird. I love the color and the name too. Although with my wild children I rarely get to see a bird as now they're both chasing after them. ;) Good luck with trying to carve out some bird watching time.
