Seeds of Change

10+ days.

That's how long it has been since I last posted.

10+ days.

Where have I been? I've looked for me forever and a day. Where have I been? I'm just not myself when I'm away.

I'd like to say that our family was so busy enjoying the spring weather I forgot to write, but that's not exactly it. We have been out and about a little bit, but our weather just hasn't been very accomodating in the way of bringing us some sunshine and warmth... We had snow on Saturday morning. Snow!

Bah humbug.

We've also been a bit under the weather. Feeling blah. The kiddos have had colds, and I've been feeling very blah.

Blah humbug.

I've been waiting, and waiting, and waiting for a nice sunny day where I could sit out on the lawn and start some seeds, but that day just never seems like it's going to arrive to our part of the world, so yesterday I threw caution to the wind and brought the soil, pots and seeds into the kitchen. The kids and I (mostly me) spent a few hours filling the pots with soil, labeling them, chewing our collective cuds as to how many of each seed to start, and then finally sprinkling the little seeds into the pots.

It was fulfilling. It was exhilerating. It was triumphal liberation.

Never mind. I don't know if it was any of those things. It was starting seeds, which is definitely not one of those things that gives you any sense of instant gratification. But it was lovely and good.

And now I have to confess something.

It might startle you.

I have fifteen different varieties of tomatoes.

Fifteen.

Feel free to call me the crazy tomato lady. I won't object.

I don't know what it is... In regard to other vegetables, I'm fairly level headed. But when it comes to tomatoes, all rationale goes out the window. I see all the bright, vibrant, fresh, beautiful colors and varieties available, and I feel I must have them.

As was evidenced by my harvest last year.

And this year, it's going to be bigger. Better. More colorful. Abundant.

Mwah hah hah hah hah!

I can hardly wait.

I think you'll be happy to know that I'm not even planting the yellow pear tomatoes this year.

I think we all know why.

I still have nightmares.

I do remember that perverted tomato from last year! It was startling to say the least.

15 different varities? Really? OK Crazy Tomato Lady.....or CTL for short. What in the world are you going to do with that bounty? Salsa, Salsa and more Salsa?

I am having the same feeling about Spring. Bah! It really should be ashamed of itself don't ya think? It's like Mother Nature has PMS or something.

Maybe if I get some dirt and some seeds going I might feel better! Just reading your post made me happy and forget about the snow we are supposed to get tomorrow!

Your tomato crop is wonderful.

And hubby made me take a pic of one of our tomatoes recently. Put it this way, it could be your yellow tomato's twin brother ;-)

Mmm...think of all the things you can make with tomatoes? :) I feel like it's been so long since I've been able to get on your blog to "catch up" with your life. Glad to be "blog following" again!
