Repeat Offenders

In case you haven't read the couple of letters that Little Blue Eyes and Miss Peaches sent to their dad recently, I'll get you up to speed by saying that Mr. Blue Eyes is currently in Colorado for a few weeks (two weeks and six days, to be exact... but I'm not counting or anything) to finish up working and packing up the rest of our little homestead before finally moving it all here to Minnesota.

So, it's me and the babies here in Minnesota, plugging along without him until we can be reunited and feel so good. We're no good at being apart, I tell ya'.

And by the way, on that note, I just want to give a 'shout out' to military families who are separated (for waaaay longer than we are having to endure) and those of you who are single parents for whatever reason... It. is. not. easy.

I don't mean to be overly dramatic; it's just that not having my husband around has got me thinking about what these families have to deal with on a much larger scale than we are. If I may crawl up on my soap box for a moment, just let me say this: If there's anyone in a similar situation in your life (military or single parent or what-have-you), lend them your support if you can. It has to mean a lot. I know that the help of my family with the kids this past week has made everything 10x easier.

O.k., I'm down off my soap box now. Instead, I'm watching the George Strait Artist of the Decade All-Star Concert on CBS. Listening to Tim McGraw singing 'Marina Del Rey' just does nothing to make me feel any less lonely. But that's o.k. Sometimes it's o.k. to just let yourself feel lonely.

I'm crazy. Crazy for feelin' so lonely.

Or maybe I'm just crazy.

I forgot where I was going with this.

Oh, right... What I was eventually getting at is how each day seems to be the same looooong day over and over for the kids and I... Get up. Shower for me (maybe). Eat. Play. Nap for Peaches. Thomas the Train for Little Blue Eyes and a little computer time for me. Eat. Nap for Little Blue Eyes. Play. Eat. Nap for Peaches. Eat. Play. Bath for the kids (maybe). Go to bed. Do it all over again the next day.

While some might balk at this lifestlye, I have learned to embrace it. Keeping things relatively calm and uneventful each day is what helps me make it through. My niece, Marigold, and I like to refer to our motherly duties as more of a marathon than a sprint. Never have I felt that metaphor more than this past week. I don't know how long a marathon is... 26 miles? I guess I'm on about mile 10 or so, in relation to when Mr. Blue Eyes is due back. Almost half way.

Why didn't I write this post when I was past the half way point? It would have been much more encouraging for me then. This was just bad planning.

(Except I don't really plan my posts too much in advance... I find it better to write about what's mulling around in my mind at the moment and just hope that some of you might find it worth your time to read.)

Anyhow, we are one day closer to Mr. Blue Eyes' return and the end of this marathon.

I hate running.

How many more days till the Mister gets home? Hope it's soon for you! However, it looks like you are all doing well and doing fun things to keep you entertained. I loved the dog shots! They are so beautiful. Of course, it is awesome that you live near a lake, I guess about everyone in Minnesota lives near a lake however, don't they? Not like in Idaho where they are few and far between.

Keep up the great posts and pics, they are so fun to read!

Oh, I'm sorry you're on your own for a bit. You know, I know a military family, the mom has 3 kiddos and boy, what a lot of work. I think the dad returns from Iraq soon so that will be good.
I love the pics of your children, they are so cute! Hang in there and show us some pics of Minnesota and the family farm soon!
