Realities of Situations

My next post will be filled with more pictures of the storm damage and clean-up, but for today I thought I'd visit a little place called... Reality.

In reality, the storm took place two weeks ago. It's time to move on.

(Other than to post a ton more photos and commentary on the subject, which I will do. It's just so darned interesting. To me, anyway. I hope you're on board. If not, tune in sometime next week when I've moved on.)

Anyhow, a lot has happened since the storm took place two weeks ago...

1. Mr. Blue Eyes and I 'celebrated' our 10th anniversary. And by 'celebrated', I mean we snuck in a smooch between wrangling the kids and taking care of the two thousand and twelve other things we have on our plates. We're just content to wait until circumstances are better for us to 'celebrate' properly. I told him I think we're perfect examples of 'love is patient'.

2. My mom had knee surgery on Monday. This week has been a rough recovery for her... Lots of pain, and extreme, extreme, extreme fatigue and weakness. Yesterday they realized she is in atrial fibrilation, which they are figuring out how to treat, and they also gave her a blood transfusion. Since she's in a hospital (and now rehab facility) about an hour away, a couple evenings this week were all about driving up there and back to see her.

3. We rearranged our bedroom. It was all my idea. (Rearranging things in the house always is.) Now I can't handle it. Even though it looks good in theory, the position of the bed is messing with my sleep cycle. It makes me feel like we're tucked back in a deep dark cave, which I don't like. A couple nights ago I figured out that I need a night light, which has helped.

I'm 32 years old and I need a night light.

Help me, Rhonda.

4. Miss Peaches is turning 3 this weekend!

How?

Why?

Where did the...?

I'm verklempt.

In my spare time I should probably have another baby, you know, to fill the void of no longer having a baby. Unfortunately, I have no spare time. So... Not really sure how to handle this one.

Other than to make her a delicious strawberry cake and eat a massive portion of it.

Mama, why'd'ju eat all my birthday cake?

Oh, honey... One day, when you're a little older, we'll have a discussion about what happens when your mama is left alone in a house with leftover birthday cake...

5. Speaking of eating massive portions of cake... I'm off the wagon, dietarily speaking. I've been indulging in gluten-laden foods, sugars, dairy, even coffee. And I looooooovvve it... Mwah, hah hah! (Evil laugh.)

Okay, maybe it's not all that dramatic. It's just, with my weird health issues (which are somewhat better by the way), our house being hit by a tornado, my mom having surgery, and the two thousand and twelve other things we have going on, I have no time to think all that hard about being ultra-healthy.

I was really naughty after the storm... Ate fast food and ice cream bars and chips and cake and everything. We were working and I needed whatever sustenance was available. However, I'm trying to behave myself a bit more this week. The ol' waistline, which had slimmed considerably, was starting to get a bit chubby again, so I knew it was time to shape up.

6. I like horses. That's why I like to sneak in pictures of them whenever I can, such as above, even when they're not directly related to what I'm writing about. And you can't stop me. You're just going to have to deal with it.

Wow. That was a really rude way of telling you that I like to take pictures of horses and share them with you, wasn't it? I just lashed out! So sorry... I guess I have a lot on my mind. Evidently I'm not very tactful in this state. Please accept this pretty photo of some weeds flowers and a sleeping horse in the background as a peace offering...

I hope you'll find this remedies the situation.

(And not notice the fact that I just snuck in yet another random and unrelated horse picture. I'd be ashamed of myself if... I felt any shame about it at all... which I don't. Oh well.)

I love horses too, so I am loving your pics of your horses. I used to have four of them, but now I am a city dweller again and have none. Do you all go riding?

Sorry to hear about your mom's surgery and health problems. I hope she is on the road to recovery. Our anniversary is the 20th! #9 for us. Hope you and hubby get to celebrate soon!

We just celebrated our 6th anniversary on Miss Peaches birthday. :) I laughed when I saw how you celebrated your 10th anny. Hubby and I took naps and ate at Dairy Queen with the kiddos--how romantic! :)

Happy Anniversary. I knew it was in July, just didn't remember when. Gosh it doesn't seem like 10 yrs ago you two got hitched, yet in the same breath it seems like a million yrs ago. I hope your Mom is now doing better with recovery, everyone handles surgery differently, I hope she comes home soon. Don't worry about the dietary relaspe... it is called being a busy parent, a busy wife, a working parent, a women, and most of all being human! Everyone's gotta have a little ice cream and coffee sometimes!

Happy Anniversary.
The smooches were probably sweeter than you realize.

Love the horse pictures. No one better be complaining about them. They are so beautiful.
