Queen of My Domain

What have I planted in my garden, you ask?

Scoff.

The easier question would be, what haven't I planted in my garden?

Sorry, I'm a little full of myself right now.

I don't fully understand it.

For some reason, tilling the earth, dominating the weeds and sowing seeds into the earth has made me feel somewhat...

Powerful.

Yet small.

Yet instrumental

But also in awe.

In a state of wonderment.

God's good grace and Minnesota soil. It's a beautiful thing, I tell ya. Is that not the perdiest little strawberry plant y'all have ever seen?

So, here's the rundown of what I've got in the ground so far...

  1. Two new kinds of strawberry plants - jewel and ozark
  2. Red beets
  3. Golden beets
  4. Buttercrunch lettuce
  5. Red romaine
  6. Spinach
  7. Jack o'lantern pumpkins
  8. Sugar baby (pie) pumpkins
  9. Baby boo pumpkins
  10. Blue moon pumpkins
  11. Casper pumpkins
  12. Delicata squash
  13. Buttercup squash
  14. Butternut squash
  15. Baby pumpkins
  16. Crown of thorns
  17. Sunflowers (just a few for fun)
  18. Beuregard sweet potatoes
  19. Georgia jet sweet potatoes
  20. Turnips
  21. Parsnips
  22. Peas
  23. Green pole beans
  24. Yellow wax beans
  25. Carrots (two varieties)
  26. Red potatoes
  27. Yukon gold potatoes
  28. Yellow onion
  29. Red onion
  30. Sweet onion
  31. Garlic!!!
  32. Scallions
  33. Leeks
  34. Raspberries
  35. Sugar baby watermelon
  36. Cilantro
  37. Sweet basil
  38. Italian parsley
  39. Savory
  40. Marjoram
  41. Thyme

I think that about covers it. The only things I have left to plant are sweet corn, some ornamental corn (to decorate with in the fall), and a couple of blackberry plants.

Hurrah!

Joy to the world!

It is planted!

Snooooore. Shew. Snore. Shew.

Oh sorry, I must have drifted off for a second there. I'm exhausted! Planting a garden, raising two little tots, watching some other people's babies, cooking, cleaning, and finding some small pin prick of time to paint my toenails is a lot of work!

(And from the looks of my feet in the photo above, I'm not doing so well on the toenail painting front.)

And then, crazy lady that I am... I throw a puppy into the mix!

Hi Elsa! Hi my puppy wuppy squishy wishy fluffy wuffy snuggle wuggle cheeks. Come here and let me tousle your soft fur. Oh Elsa, you're such a good girl. Hi Elsa! Oh Elsa. Who's my good girl? It's Elsa. Elsaaaahhh....

What was I saying?

Oh yes, exhaustion.

Fuhgeddaboudid.

Forget I ever even said anything.

Elsa is in the world.

And so are strawberry plants.

And sometimes Elsa is in my strawberry plants.

And I don't even care.

Who needs sleep anyway? Sleep is overrated.

You know what's not overrated?

Puppies.

And gardening.

And flowers!

I didn't even mention the flowers.

See? No rest for the weary. (Yawn). The weary get no rest. The weary just get wearier, and wearier, and werrierer and werrriii...

Snore. Shew. Snore. Shew.

Um... I'll catch y'all in about eight hours. ;)

In case ya didn't recognize it............yer feets are dirty!

I am so impressed with all the seeds ya'll been planting. That is a whole heck of a lot of produce!
Come August and September I'm thinking we won't see ya 'round these parts much.
You'll be up to yer armpits in canning, and babies and Elsa.

Mercy girl. You make my tired ache.

Love the sleeping pup! And you are way ambitious with that garden! You're going to have some great stuff come late summer and fall. :)

Yes, I look at our garden with both feelings of pride and dread. There is going to be a lot to harvest! But I remind myself, if push comes to shove, and I just don't have time to harvest and process it all, it's okay. I'll do what I can. I'll can what I can. Hah!
