Our Good Morning Show

We're going about our usual business this morning. It really is the simple joys in life that make it so good, huh?

This morning it's just me and the babies...

Yes, I'm becoming a master at self-portraiture. Yep, that's me, lookin' good. Pfffsh... Yeah right!

Little Blue Eyes, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed as usual. After a good cup of milk and a Flinstone vitamin, he's off and running. And talking. And drawing. And playing with cars. And throwing a ball. And riding his trike. And that's all before 8am.

And this good morning show is brought to you by:

Miss Peaches, who slept almost all night, and thus allowed her dreary-eyed parents to awake feeling relatively refreshed. (Showered? No, as you can see from my self-portrait above. But refreshed? Yes.)

I felt the need to dress her in an array of pastel pink, purple and yellow this morning. Not sure why. Maybe I'm getting anxious for Easter to arrive or something. I licked her sleeve just to see if she tasted like a Peep, but she did not.

Just kidding. I did not lick my child. I know that dressing her in Easter colors does not, in fact, turn her into a piece of Easter candy. Sometimes I just throw things out there to see it you're paying attention.

So, anyway, she sits in a laundry basket now. That's our new thing. Little Blue Eyes used to do it too...

Little Blue Eyes, back in the day. Suddenly Alan Jackson's 'Remember When' is running through my mind. Where did the time go?

Before I lose my composure and get lost in pondering the passage of time, I'd better get back on track.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) Mr. Blue Eyes and Burley are off at work, probably chopping wood or plowing snow or some other manly endeavor. But before he left, he brought me a bowl of these in bed...

Oh, how I love that man. These are vital to our existence. Mr. Blue Eyes is more of an oatmeal man, but Little Blue Eyes, Miss Peaches and I rely heavily on it as morning sustenance. I can barely get out of bed without a bowl. When we get low on these, Farmer Gal gets agitated and nervous. We know a trip to Wal-Mart is eminent.

Mr. Blue Eyes may be gone, but thankfully Mr. Coffee is here...

Mmmm... Ahhhh... So good. Can you tell I don't drink my coffee black? Decaf with a splash of half-and-half with sugar, please. Turbinado sugar, to be exact. Someday, when Miss Peaches is done breast feeding and I don't have to worry about the passage of caffiene from my system causing her to have trouble sleeping through the night, I will be back to the fully leaded stuff. In the meantime, it's amazing how just pretending I'm drinking something caffienated seems to do the trick.

The soundtrack to our morning...

Thank you, Rocky Mountain PBS, for providing wholesome and educational television for my family. You do good work.

And last, but not least, there's Timber...

He likes to earn his keep by being the cleaner-upper of Cheerios and other fallen food items. He's a giver, like that.

And because you've hung in there are read all about our morning routine, be it mundane or interesting or somewhere in between, I've decided to give a little something away today. All you have to do is leave a note in the comments about what your morning routine looks like, and we will hold a random drawing to choose one lucky winner to receive a little gift box of coffee and turbinado sugar from yours truly.

I told you it was little.

But good things can come in little packages. Trust me.

Contest ends on Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m., Mountain Standard Time.

"Mundane" mornings are the best! Your post reminded me of mornings when my kidlets were all small. And they loved playing in an empty laundry basket, too!

Have a great day!

Cheerios are vital to my oldest's breakfast. I tried to give him generic Cheerios (without him knowing) and he wasn't having it. I tried it twice and he wouldn't eat it. Brand loyalty at its finest.

I miss my cleaner-upper. My dog lives with my parents now due to my little boy's allergies. You can't believe the piles of food I sweep up these days after a meal!
