One More Day
October 29, 2010
With the sunshine, calm air and warmth beckoning us, the kids and I ventured outside later this afternoon. For a few moments, it felt like the familiar rhythm of summer... They played, I puttered around and did a little yard work. We wandered here and there, and for a little while, we did not feel the chilly grasp of an impending winter.
We soaked up the last dusky hints of color...
We worked on random projects...
We frolicked...
We breathed in one more fleeting day of autumn warmth, and looked back fondly on a good season of sunshine.
And sadly, for one of us, it was to be the last day.
We decided that it is time, for Keeper. He's been waning for quite awhile, and since some colder days and nights have set in, he has been struggling. It is a sad moment to approach, yet we have peace that it is time.
On days like this, it is so hard not to think, how...
...while some go on living...
...it is time for others to die.
But it is not hard to see that we are really part of something more than ourselves, is it? The evidence is everywhere, if we would only choose to see it...
...that there is a time for everything.
