Nebraska or bust!
August 8, 2011
Our Nebraska trip... I hardly know where to begin!
It was wonderful.
Words couldn't begin to convey.
Good thing I took a couple hundred pictures.
The Minnesota sunrise bid us farewell.
It seemed as if in no time, we went from cornfields...
...to open prairie ranchland.
The farther west we traveled, the more my love for that area was rekindled. Mr. Blue Eyes was afraid he might not get me to come back to Minnesota again.
(Does he really think I could live without him and his cute little smile?)
We did pass by a nice fixer-upper close to my brother's house.
It had potential.
But I was content to return to our life in Minnesota.
In the meantime, I soaked up as much of Nebraska as I could...
It was the perfect mix of relaxation and entertainment. One day I even found myself lying on a bench outside, watching the clouds roll by.
It was that good.
We stayed at my sister-in-law's house, which was a sweet little oasis on the Nebraska landscape...

Could this have been any cuter? It was a treat to stay there. The other nice touch was the longhorns...
...that graze just outside the door, on their property.
Don't you think everyone should have longhorns wandering around on their property?

I almost tried to squeeze this one in our car to take home.
It wouldn't be the first time a member of my family put livestock into a car.
Since my sister-in-law lives on a huge chunk of land, we decided to let Little Blue Eyes test out his driving skills.
This was all fine and dandy. But the best part... The very BEST part... The very very very BEST part... Was when my nieces arrived with their children, who we haven't seen in over two years.
I felt as if my heart was going to explode.
And then the real fun began...

Wow! The best part sounds like it was with the family!
Too much fun. Especially for those kiddos that hadn't seen their cousins before.
Beautiful pictures.
Glad you were able to get away.
Oh, and I totally think you should have a couple of longhorns.
