My Latest Obsession
March 10, 2009 I spent the better part of this morning working on our taxes (blehgh... but I'm almost done... yay!), which has left me utterly zapped, mentally speaking. Down the tubes has gone my writing skills for the day, so I'm not going to bend your ear (or eyes, I guess) too much.
On the other hand, I have been mildly obsessed lately with something I figured out how to do in Photoshop... I've been converting pictures to black and white, then colorizing only certain parts. I'm sure you've all seen this techniqe. Photographers do it all the time, particularly for wedding photos.
Anyhow, since I'm not feeling all that 'wordy' today, I thought I'd share my photo edits with you instead. I could do this all day, but I'm starting to get a sore neck and shoulder on my right side from all the mousing around!
Hope you enjoy!

Black sheep of the family, no doubt!

This was from a wedding I did a few years ago. (I used to be an event coordinator, in case you didn't know.) I always really liked the vibrancy of the flowers.

Oh, Mr. Blue Eyes, back when his body was made of a significant amount of chub. I can just feel how soft and smooth his skin was against the blanket. My favorite part of babies is their chubby thighs, nicely showcased here. I could just squeeze 'em!
Too bad Miss Peaches is napping or she'd be getting squeezed right now for sure.

One of my favorite Christmas ornaments. I might have to think about making a Christmas card out of this one.

Admittedly, this is probably my least favorite of the ones I have done so far, but I do still like it. It does show off in an obvious way something I like about this process... How the color that comes through is the actual color of the object, so it retains all of the original coloration, mottling, and character of the original photo.

Miss Peaches, gnawing on an apple. (And no, I don't let her chew on apple pieces that she can actually fit in her mouth and choke on, just in case you were worried. We think of this as more of a teething ring kind of thing and she likes to suck the juice out of it.) This one was fun, especially doing the writing on her shirt.

Remember this one from last week's My Best Shot Monday? This is the first one I did, and it may be my favorite. I love how Burley's black and white coloring look against the colorized areas. It's my new screen saver.
Speaking of screen savers... If you would like any of these for your own screen saver (or pretty much any picture I've posted on my website so far, for that matter) just leave me a comment in this post and I will send them to you.
Also, if you have any pictures that you'd love to share (Photoshopped or otherwise), leave a link and I will check them out!
