My Best Shot Monday - Sideways

I loved this photo, so I decided to get it printed in a 5x7. I did all my edits, then sent it down to Wal-Mart to get printed, to be picked up later that day.

When I went to pick it up, the package had a 'c' written on it with a circle around it. The lady behind the counter said, "Who took these?" and I said, "I did." Then she said, "Do you have the media?" and I said, "No, I sent it in online from home." She then proceeded to give me a form to sign that said that I had not violated the copyright on the photo.

As I went on my merry way, I realized that they thought it was a picture taken by a professional photographer that I was trying to reproduce! Illegally, evidently.

It was a picture taken by me, at our kitchen table... Definitely NOT taken by a pro or in any sort of photo shoot setting.

I have to admit, I was a little bit proud. My work, professional quality? Moi?

I am SO not a professional, but I am learning. For every great picture I have -- or 'best shot' -- I have five that are not so great. I think it's kind of a metaphor for life... We just keep giving it our best shot, and every so often we come forth with something that we can be proud of. The point is, you have to keep trying.

O.k., I'll get off my soap box now. That's my best shot this week!

Talk about an ego booster, eh? It's a wonderful shot! I even like the reflection you caught on the table.

That's an awesome compliment! It's a wonderful picture your editing is perfect. :) I hope he has an excellent birthday.

It really could be a professional shot! You go. It's just so sweet. Nicely done.

My oldest would be all over your horse life. Once a week is just not enough for her.

Love the Black and White effect of the photo. I wish my grandson would be such a wonderful subject. Seems he is always reaching for the camera to "see" the picture of himself on the display! I really have to work at getting candid shots.

What a great compliment - and I agree: this is definitely a quality shot! (I'm with you on the 1 out of 5, though: that's definitely my ratio, too. Glad to know it's not just me.)

That really is an amazing shot. It's not surprise they thought it was professionally done! Good job!

That is a great job, and you should be very proud of it, and of the compliment that the person working inadvertantly gave.

OH, it is a great photo! I had that happen when I went to pick up some photos at a Meijers when I was home in Michigan, too! They must really be cracking down on the copyright violators (which is good!) but you are going to have to start bringing your camera to pick up your pics!

Here is to many more photos that you get "questioned" for!

This is a beautiful picture, and I'm not surprised, either! I'm glad they trusted you were not a photo hijacker.! On a non-photo but sort of relevant note, once at the dentist, the hygienist asked me during the cleaning whether I worked "in dentistry." I certainly do not (and I don't actually have any idea what he meant), but I took it as a compliment and was flattered.

and a great one it is!

That picture is simply amazing. Everything is perfect down to his expression!

I would be blowing that one up and framing it for sure! (umm... after I got copyright permission, *grin*)
