Memorial Day Flowers
May 24, 2012 For Memorial Day weekend, I thought I would 'give' you a 'bouquet' of flowers from here on our farm. Unfortunately it's not a real bouquet, it's just photographs of what's in bloom around here. On the other hand, you can keep the photos forever and they're never dry out or fade!
I like to look at the vase as 'half full'.
These days I have the good fortune of gazing upon the following...

Geraniums... Miss Peaches pick from the nursery. And she picked pink and purple! Classic Peaches.
Marigolds... Little Blue Eyes' selection. Orange is his signature cullah. (color)
Irises, transplanted from my sister's house about three years ago. After surviving being laid on by dogs and another transplant, this is their first year to bloom. (!)
I get excited about these kinds of things.
A smattering of annuals that I planted in some old pots.
Johnny Jump-Ups. Get this... They seemed to have 'jumped up' along our retaining wall. I always get a kick out of these little guys.
A shrub rose... I think. (?) It has lived here longer than I have.
And, last but not least, a happily climbing clematis.
We also have some peonies, daffodils, a gerbera daisy, lantana, petunias and other irisis blooming here and there, which I will have to catch some pictures of when I have a spare moment, and this summer we are looking forward to coneflowers, gallardia, bee balm and white zinnias. Should be beautiful. I just love all the blooms.
We have a pretty busy weekend ahead of us, and I very likely won't be around to blog, so I wanted to tell you, have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
