Making a Break For It
August 11, 2009
Until my internet woes are solved, I think I’ve figured out a way to get in some posts here and there on my site, which brings me great relief. I awoke this morning determined to get a post written. It actually wasn’t for my own site here, but a guest post for Keeper of the Home, which should be posted in the coming months.
(If you haven’t checked out her site – Keeper of the Home – you should! Stephanie shares very insightful and informative posts on homemaking and natural living, all from a Christian viewpoint. I just love it.)
Anyhow, as I looked forward to a little bit of time writing, I realized how much I had been missing it. It was like I was sort of subconsciously missing it, if that makes any sense.
With all of the chaos of moving and summer and poison ivy and lack of internet, my creativity has been zapped. No writing. Very little photography. No playing with Photoshop. I’m realizing now what a sad little existence I’ve been leading.
But a Farmer Gal had to do what a Farmer Gal had to do. And a Farmer Gal still has to keep doing those things, but this morning I realized that I have to keep writing too. As much as I hope you all enjoy coming here and reading (sorry for the lack of reading material these days, by the way), I do it as much for myself as anything.
It’s cathartic. It clears my psyche. It gives me a source of productivity and creativity. It’s something I have to make time for... Take a break for... It’s my time.
And if you’re here reading, you understand. You probably like writing too. Or reading. Or you have some other creative outlet that brings you here. So I have a question for you today: What do you do that is your time?

Yea.... you're back! I've missed your posts. Glad you've figured out a way to blog again.
What do I do with my time? This summer, a lot of time has been spent in the kitchen trying out new things and playing around with photographing them. Then blogging them, of course. : )
My kids have also kept me hopping. It's been the busiest summer I can remember and I can't believe school starts in just two short weeks. I'm sending my baby off to kindergarten already! I just don't understand where all this time goes. Seriously!

That picture is priceless!
My time usually consists of writing, reading, cooking, quilting, beading, observing nature, and sometimes just plain staring at a wall or the ocean in a meditation.
Otherwise, I am working, with family and loved ones and dealing with my aging hulk of a body to stay healthy.
Hope you are settling in to your new home.
remember when we were going to rope sheep for practice? are you grooming that herd for such activities, cuz if you are- I'm in!
