Lovey Dovey

The morning doves have been back for a couple weeks now.

I love them.

I think they're officially my favorite bird.

And I'll tell you why... First of all, they're so humble. They quietly waddle around on the ground and eat all the bird seed that the other birds have dropped. And they're not flashy.

Secondly -- and this is really the heart of the matter -- is their soft, gentle, pleasing plumpness. I just admire that quality. I wish I could look good being softly gentle and plump.

Our mourning doves are back too, and I also adore them. It's so comforting to hear them coo to each other and just contently perch wherever they want - always together. : )
