Looking for Some Wintspiration
January 5, 2011
When it came to Christmas and the New Year, there were too many words. It was all a jumble of preparing, making, running to and fro, listening, reading, singing, looking, and soaking in the wonder of it all.
The birth of Christ and the passing of another year. I do well to just barely wrap my pea-sized brain around it.
Today, however, I find myself with very little to say.
I don't have the winter blues. That's not it.
On the contrary. I'm actually thankful for this forced-indoors existence so that I can charge forth with my tirade to organize things around the house. Closets, drawers, storage boxes... Nothing is safe from my sorting hands.
But it's just not very interesting to write about.
Yesterday I condensed five Christmas storage totes into three...
It just doesn't grab your attention, does it?
Today I'm going to clean out the snack cupboard...
Boring.
Tomorrow I shall reorganize the bathroom and hall closets...
Snore.

I have to tell you, though, I'm a little bit disturbed that Wal-Mart always seems to know what I need before I do. Yesterday when I stopped in for a few things, the festive red storage totes were just sitting there, beaming, beckoning me to buy them and neatly pack my Christmas decor into them. And I did.
I find it interesting that we all must be thinking along the same lines enough that major retail chains always knows what we're looking for, even before we have the conscious thought ourselves.

I'm off to continue on my organization spree, but in the meantime, leave a comment... Are you happily nesting and enjoying the exploration of new storage solutions as I am, or are you busy with something else?

I'm doing another kind of organization-- getting ready to go back to school! Ah, the bane of a college student's existence. How is it that the amount of stuff that has to fit into the suitcase always triples over Christmas? Ah!!
You're much more ambitious than I'm feeling. I usually get that organization bug in January, but for some reason, it hasn't hit yet this year. How about you come and organize my pantry and closets? :)
NNL - I remember those days (not fondly) of going back to college. It's hard to lead a transient life, huh?
Michelle - I'll organize your pantry if you bake for me. Deal? ;)
It is not boring at all...I say that because that is what I am doing too, and I need all the convincing I can get!! What else is a girl to do on a cold january day in MN? Although I must say, my kids are a bit older than yours, my youngest in kindergarten this year...it has been very nice to have some quietness in the house this week while they are back at school. Today, I did NOTHING all morning. It was fun!!
That last picture of the gargantuous snow blower made me shiver!!!!!!
Sorry, but I think organization tips and tales are totally mezmerizing.
Really.
I find it amazing that you are so on the same wave-length as Wal Mart. I have NEVER heard of that before.
Aren't you so glad they exist?
You must take a picture of the snack cupboard and the neatly boxed red and green boxes.
Pulitzer Prize material.
Organizing must be the thing to do. In the last week I did 2 1/2 closets and threw a BUNCH of stuff away! I put a big tote of outgrown kids clothes in the attic. Wal-mart also had the vision of me needing some totes to oragnize all these new toys... so now these totes are in my house waiting to be filled, unfortunetly the kids don't get the concept of being organized with toys!
I've been gradually de-cluttering and re-organising too - I think that it's got a lot to do with wanting to start the year nice and orderly.
It may not seem thrillingly bloggable, however it's very satisfying!
Organization is the furthest from my mind. I have my creative wheels spinning out of control. If it weren't for my job, I'd have a lot more time to spend on that endeavor. :-) I'm sure I will get the organizing bug sooner or later...last year we got 6 large green tubs from Walmart for all of our Christmas decorations and tossed out all the moving boxes they were stored in before that. It feels so good to do that, doesn't it?
Organizing, what a nice thought! I got as far as cleaning up the house after the holidays. I think February is the month for me to take everything down and organize my Christmas stuff. Somehow it makes the Winter go by "faster" when I draw out the decoration cleanup/organization.Ha ha, the silly things I think to get me through these long COLD winters!
