Lawsie Mercy
May 13, 2011 I ran across a picture yesterday that made me a bit sad and heart broken.
It was this...

Elsa.
Do you remember Elsa? If you've been reading here for awhile, you remember Elsa. Lawsie mercy, was I ever a fool for that puppy.
But, one rainy day in the early fall, she just up and disappeared, and we never did find out what became of her. I mourned for that puppy. If you've been reading here for awhile, you know I mourned for that puppy.
That's the bad news.
The good news is...

Henry.
About two weeks after Elsa disappeared, I found Henry and another young black lab male, running down the side of the highway. With no luck reuniting them with their owners, we decided to keep Henry, and gave the other puppy to the Humane Society.
And lawsie mercy, am I ever a fool for Henry too. A sweeter, more loyal dog, you will be hard pressed to find. He does have issues with the UPS man, but thanks to a patient UPS man who brings him treats every time he stops by, we're overcoming that.
And now I have a little photography trick for you... Want to know how to get your dog to make funny faces while you're taking his/her picture? Awwww, sure you do.
Meow like a cat.
It totally works.
Watch this...
"Meow."
"Meow."
"Meow."

And my personal favorite...
"Meow."
Don't judge me.
In actuality, it probably doesn't work 100% of the time, but more likely just on young dogs who have never heard a human make such funny noises before. I tested it out on Burley, who is older and wiser, and all I got for my meowing was a big...
Yawn.
(Yes, that's a yawn, even though it looks like he's about to devour me whole. Rest assured, I am safe.)

Oh sweet Elsa...I was actually thinking about her just the other day. Your photos of Henry had me cracking up. Kona does that too...but we use words like bye-bye, collar, leash, car, walk, ride....we are so mean. Those are her trigger words...she has the cutest expressions.
