Who can't I get enough of? Well, first there's 'One Ordinary Day', and then there's Tauna living somewhere in the 'Garden of Egan' (which evidently is somewhere in Idaho). And I can't forget 'Bakerella', who single-handedly keeps me from giving up baked goods. And then there's... I guess if you'd like to see some other blogs I like to read, you should just click HERE!

Ladybird Lodge

I'm behind... Behind, behind, behind. Between internet connection problems, a little boy with a cold, a garden bursting with strawberries that need to be picked, a slow move in progress for both us and Mr. Blue Eyes' parents, and a baby girl with a ravenous appetite who demands food every few hours and is now crawling and into everything, I never quite feel like I'm caught up on anything.

I'm so behind that I haven't watched General Hospital since last week and I have yet to see an episode of this season's 'Army Wives'.

Woe is me.

Anyhow, I meant to write this post last week, but then the internet was down, and then it was Father's Day, and then I stubbed my toe, and then Miss Peaches got hungry again, and then... and then... and then... You know how it goes.

I'm here now. That's all I can say.

In case you aren't up to speed on what we're doing, I'll quickly recap: We've just recently moved back to MN (where we grew up) from CO. We will eventually be moving onto my husband's family farm, but his parents aren't quite moved yet, so we're staying with my sister in the meantime.

I don't really even know how to explain what it is like here at my sister's house. Let me start by saying this: We're NOT roughing it...

If you have to hold up somewhere for awhile while you're moving from one home to another, this is about as good a way to do it as I can imagine. My sister (we'll call her 'Ladybird') and her family have been more than gracious in letting us stay with them, which is really the sweetest part of the deal, and that alone would be wonderful even if we were all living together in a rundown shack.

But it just so happens that it's not a rundown shack.

Ladybird has a flair for landscaping (with a little help from our brother, who has his own landscaping business), so we are enjoying the beautiful flowers and plants and trees around us. The view isn't bad either...

Ladybird also has a flair for... well... birds. (Hence the nickname. I know... I'm like, SO creative.)

While Burley is busy stalking her gophers, I am busy stalking her bird feeders with my zoom lens.

We have the pleasure of staying up in the 'nest', two rooms and our own bathroom up above the garage. The kitchen is just down at the bottom of the stairs, so we are set! Ladybird also has a flair for cooking, and when she's not cooking, I take advantage of her large kitchen and counterspace and make things like rhubarb strawberry jam and lovebird pie. (Look for it on the Home Cooking page soon!)

We're looking forward to our own home and unpacking our own things soon, but in the meantime, our nest at Ladybird Lodge isn't such a bad place to be.

It looks like you are really in a great place. Glad you could move back to be around family. Yours sounds like an awesome one!

What wonderful accommodations! I am sure the kids are loving it as well. Great shots of those beautiful birds. When you said you were staying in the nest, I giggled because my brain immediately went to the picture of the "treehouse structure" on stilts in your first photo grouping! But then I thought, no way! Thats not big enough to have two rooms and a bathroom!

Hee, hee... I thought of that too, but didn't think anyone else would notice. Thankfully, no. That is not our 'nest'. It may be the 'nest' of someone else however... Someone considerably bigger and with WAY bigger teeth. Any guesses?
