January, You Got No Right
January 27, 2011
Before I get started, I just have to set January straight on something...
Hello? January? Yeah, hi. Um, you're supposed to be the slow, boring, frigid month during which we have not much else to do but hunker down inside, sip hot chocolate, read 'Anna Karenina' and ride it out. Though you have stayed true to your frigid nature (gee, thanks), you have been busy and hectic. You have filled your days from sun-up until well after sundown. (Which isn't hard, since the sun sets early.) I'm going to give you a chance, in your last days, to rectify this situation and serve me up some serious down time. If this doesn't happen, we are going to have words. So shape up.
Whew. I just needed to get that out. Anyone else way busier than they think they should be right now? I really shouldn't complain because the things I've been busy with are good things.
But...
It's January!
This is supposed to be the slow month!
Every other month of the year has good reason to be busy...
February = Valentine's Day
March/April = spring cleaning and spring break
May/June = Memorial day getaways and garden planting
July = Independence Day and garden weeding (sob)
August = back-to-school, more weeding, swabbing ice cubes upon one's self to survive the relentless heat and humidity
September/October = Labor Day, harvest and Halloween
November = Thanksgiving
December = Christmas
See? January, you got no right.
Okay, I think I'm done now.
But in all seriousness, as much as it sounds like it, I'm really not complaining, because it has been a good, productive month. I'm just questioning where it went... How is it almost over? How didn't I have hardly any time to write? Or stranger yet, to take any photos? My Nikon and I are sorely out of touch, and I'm determined to rectify that situation this weekend.
What about you... Been busy? Bored? Totally psyched out of your mind about some project you have going on? Suffering a bit of the 'winter crazies' and having inner dialogue with a particular month of the year?
Guessing I'm alone on that last one.

I sorta had a little breakdown a few nights ago about this very thing. Except the opposite.
My hubs has been gone to Canada for the past two weeks and I'm so overwhelmed with snow and gray days and full time in the ER. I sorta had a pity party.
It can't get over fast enough. I need to smell the earth!
I agree, me and the NIkon need to have a moment together.
You inspire me with your photos. I need to do some funky stuff, that would feel good.
Wow, it has been a whirlwind of a January! I loved your post because those thoughts of January supposedly being the slow month, proved to not be the case this year. However, I am GRATEFUL because I am aching for Spring!
