It's That Time of Year Again

It's that time of year when things outdoors are just kind of... blah.

It's hard for me to get up the urge to take pictures and be a creative writer in the midst of all the outdoor blah.

I'm just bein' honest.

Now if I was looking at something like this...

... I might feel a bit more invigorated. Color! Light! Warmth! Oh yeah, baby.

So, I wonder as I wander, what is this time of year good for anyway? God gives us this -- this blah time -- so it must be good for something. And then I think about what's going on around here, and it all starts to make a little bit of sense.

Things are kind of winding down.

We're nestling in more.

We're talking more; contemplating more.

We're taking stock of what has been, and needing a bit of quiet time to prepare for what's to come.

We're shedding our flashy, care free duds of summer for more practical winter wear.

We're layering.

We're very much like what's going on outside... Not too flashy to look at, but man oh man, this time is working little miracles.

I have to confess, it's around this time that I get a little more stingy with my writing. Without all the pretty, sunny pictures to go along side, I'm not as inclined to share what's going on. It's not as flashy, so I resist writing about it. I also have a hard time writing about special occasions... Holidays, birthdays and such. I can't tell you why. I just do.

So, I'm going to try to be a little bit better about that; a bit more giving of my writing. Call it my pre-New Year's resolution.

But, alas, amid all that, I am who I am, and who I am loves the vibrant colors of summer...

Ahhhhhh.

Writing to say I hope you are having a good week and all of your sweet family is well and feelng good. *hugs* Did you get any shopping accomplished? I still have to do mine. :-) I love the photo of the tractors...red and green!
