Insurmountable...
March 24, 2009
That's what the cleaning situation in our house is soon to be if I don't get a handle on things. It's past the point of just needing to tidy up... I need to DEEP clean... Dust, vacuum, sweep, mop, disinfect and organize toys, laundry, shoot dust bunnies with my B.B. gun, clean the refrigerator, wash the bedding (both human and dog)... The whole gammut.
Oh, the laundry. The picture above represents part of my laundry folding scheme. I like to separate clothes -- each of ours individually, then into categories such as 'pants', 'shirts', 'hang-up clothes' and so forth -- on my bed while I fold, then put them all away to their respective places. I'm a separator. I like different things to have their own drawers. For my own wardrobe, there's regular pants (like jeans and khakis), sweat pants, sweat shirts, long sleeve shirts, t-shirts, thank tops, and then there's the clothes that I hang up. They all have their own place. I do this for all of our clothes, so my bed starts to get full of thousands of little categorized piles by the time the laundry is done. Luckily the kids' clothes are tiny so their piles don't take up much space.
I'm somewhat thankful that it is the cold and blustery day that it is today, because it will make hunkering down inside and detailing my microwave all the more acceptable. I may need some moral support though, so if you happen to stop in here, leave me a comment so I don't feel so alone in the world. What I really would love to know is: Are you as particular about your laundry as I am? Do you like to separate things out or does it all just go into drawers intermingled? What other laundry habits do you have? Like, do you wear a pair of underwear on your head throughout the day to remind you not to forget the laundry in the wash?
This brings me to an even deeper question: Why is it called a 'pair' of underwear? I can't wrap my brain around that one. If you've got anwers, please help.
I'll just say, "You're welcome," in advance for bringing you all these profound thoughts this morning. I know you rely on me to stimulate your psyche and put those really important ideas out there into the world. It's what I'm here for.

p.s. As I'm looking around here things are adding to the list... Detail the highchair and booster chairs, organize cupboards, put away clothes that have been outgrown... Uffda, it's going to be a long day. Or two.
p.s.s. 12:00 noon... Kitchen cleaning = check. Now pondering what to clean next while eating a strawberry cupcake.

Playing with horses is more fun! Or in my case chickens! But OK, if I must....I will get on my laundry pile as well. I separate, and then fold (which is the part I hate) and then I put each persons pile on their bed. They have to put them away. My hubby has neat drawers, all organized. Mine tend to get kind of sloppy....
What about the turtles? ;)
See, I like the folding, but not the sorting. We should get together and you can sort it all and I'll fold it all. But I have to be in sort of a zen place when I fold... I know it's going to take awhile, so I make sure I've got no other commitments and I turn on some good t.v. or music.
Oh, what? I'm supposed to be cleaning right now?
Um, yes, I'm pretty picky. At least, I have a routine. I always fold the items right after I get them out of the dyer, in the laundry room. Then I put them away. I also hang up the items I don't throw in the dryer, and put them on the shower rod to air dry.
I hope you got all of your laundry done. And yes, I like stormy days too, it really does help you not feel guilty for staying in, relaxing, or getting inside chores done!
Those turtles can bite! Not very playful, those little critters! They are kind of moody, now that I think about it. If fact, I wonder what purpose they are serving? Well, they are darn cute....
