I Should Be

I should be...

Harvesting squash and punkins from our garden.

I should be...

Harvesting carrots from garden and getting them in the freezer.

I should be...

Making something delicious for my mom's 80th birthday party tomorrow.

(Hurray!)

I should be...

Trying to get a handle on our basement, which is currently strewn about with too-small clothes and reject toys.

I should be...

Preparing for our guests, who shall arrive sometime during the night.

Instead, I am...

Sitting on my hiney.

My hiney is taherd. (Tired.) (You should know, when I get tired, I start typing like a hillbilly.) And so is the rest of my body. It has been a busy, zig-zaggy kind of week.

The beauty of it is, the guests are Marigold and her young'uns, and she and I accept -- expect, even -- imperfection from one another. It's part of the beauty of our relationship. I baked her a less than stellar apple pie this afternoon, and then I even ate part of it, and I know she won't care. I love her so.

I have also come to a conclusion about this whole house-cleaning business... Why, oh why, do we pretend like we don't live in our houses? Why do we feel like they need to be in showroom order when guests come over? Oh sure, I'm still going to try to keep things tidy. But I've gotten a lot more relaxed about this whole deal.

Either that, or I simply don't have time to be in perfect order anymore, and I've found a way to make it sound like I've had a house-cleaning revelation instead.

This may be more accurate.

Anyhow, I do need to scuttle off and accomplish a few more things today.

I don't want to.

I so don't want to.

My hiney is so garsh darn taherd.

But charge forth I shall.

Harumph!

(that was me, getting off my hiney, in case you couldn't tell)

Hope that you managed to get what you needed to do done.
And I sooo relate to being tired with a ton of things to be done around the house!
