Him, He's Doin' Well
November 8, 2011
This guy.
Wellllll... Let's just say... He's doin' well.
This whole pre-school thing, he's got it down.
He has taken it all in stride.
He gets up in the morning, chows down his breakfast, we get him dressed, say a quick prayer, and off he goes. Mr. Blue Eyes scoots him over to his cousins' house and he rides the bus with them.
I just wonder... That bus ride... What does my little boy do? How does he act? I'd love to be a mouse in the corner.
And last week, they had grandparents' day, to which my mother, and my mother-in-law and father-in-law attended. That day, while going about my business at home, I thought, "He's there, in school, having his own experiences, without me."
It sounds like sad thought, but it wasn't. It was a wistful thought. A moment of pride.
This is all new territory for me... Sending one of my children off on their own, trusting he's in good hands, and trusting we've done enough to prepare him for all this.

We've scarcely spent a day apart since day one.
Speaking of new territory... Last week, here's what he told me... "Mom, after school today, a girl came up to me and asked me if I liked Thomas (the Train). I said 'yes', and she said, "I like Thomas too!" And I was thinking, maybe she could come over to our house sometime."
Screeeeech!
Wait. Whuh? You've gone from just easing into being a pre-schooler to wanting to invite girls over?
We'll discuss letting you have girls over in forty-seven years or so, okay?
I'm so in love with this kid.
He lights sunshine on my heart.

Little Blue Eyes,
Motherhood

And his smile is about the best thing out there!!!! What happiness.
Now, I suggest you lighten up the sentence of "NO GIRLS" by about 7 years.
Ya, 40 years sounds about right.
You're doing a great job of motherin' I can tell. I think you are probably doing it on your knees.
The Lord knows a motherheart.
