Hello Saturday

Before you get started reading, hop over to 'Photo of the Week' and share your photo. Then stop back on the photography page tomorrow for the very first 'Tutorial Tuesday', a little tutorial on achieving the 'warm glow' effect with your photos!

..............................................................................................................

The weather around these parts has been incredibly blissful, perfect and warm. So when I awoke on Saturday, to the ethereal glow of an indian summer morning, I knew it was going to be a good day.

The only thing that would've made it better was Mr. Blue Eyes not having to work. Since harvest activities are picking up, so is his work schedule. But overall, his schedule is pretty much ideal, so we don't get too bent out of shape when the overtime season kicks in.

And we still haven't figured out how to grow a money tree in our back yard, so a little o.t. never hurts.

Anyhow, the kids and I had some quiet morning snuggle and play time before we got our motors running.

I puttered around and took some photos.

It's what I do.

In case you'd never noticed.

Eventually, we got dressed and loaded up in the truck to head out to our chosen destination, my brother's new house about 20 miles away. But not before I had to chase Timber -- who had bolted while I was backing out of the garage -- across the horse pasture, hop a few horse pies, and get mildly shocked by the electric fence.

Old dog. Same tricks.

Anyhow, with mama slightly out of breath from my little beagle capturing adventure, down the road we went.

Did I mention how beautiful it is here right now?

My brother's new house.

It's so ugly.

I feel so bad for him that he is now the owner of this rundown shack.

With the terrible view...

...overlooking the river valley.

And the sixteen fruit trees. And garden. And flower beds.

The poor guy.

I'm just kidding. It's beautiful.

And it just so happens, Mr. Blue Eyes and I have a little bit of history at this house. It is where all of this happened.

(At this moment, I'm cringing and grumbling to myself that I ever wrote all those Valentine's Day posts about Mr. Blue Eyes and I. They are, like, so totally embarassing. But I have to honor our story. I love my husband beyond all measure, so I guess I should be proud of where we started.)

After letting the kids fully enjoy running around in a house with no furniture and sharing some pizza with some family, we headed home for naptime. Since my dad's funeral had been almost exactly two years before and I was driving on the same road we had driven from the church to the cemetery that day, I decided to stop at the cemetery. I'm not one to do a lot of cemetery visiting, and I don't really feel that my dad is there, but it just felt right to stop. The day of his funeral was so beautiful, much like yesterday but not quite as warm, and it just felt right in the moment to stop. Dad loved fall, especially hunting season. He would have loved this day.

Mr. Blue Eyes got home from work, we hit a harvest dinner at my home church pretty hard (hello meatballs and apple crisp!) and saw a few old friends and even more family, then headed home and said goodbye to this lovely Saturday before drifting off to sleep.

dear farmergal --

I'd love to enjoy your pics more thoroughly, but they seem so dark... am I the only one having trouble viewing them?

I'm looking into it. Consulted with two sisters who said that it looks fine on their screens. Anyone else having trouble with dark pictures here?

Beautiful pictures. I love the one of the road. It's stunning.

Sorry about your brother's ugly house with a view too. Hope he'll be able to cope.

Enjoy your fall.
