Heaven
June 9, 2010 (Please be advised, I am referring to a little bit of heaven here on earth. When it comes to the real splendor of being in heaven with my Lord, none of what I am about to tell you about could compare.)
Yesterday...
As my sister and I rolled down the highway, sans children (staying with my sister-in-law for the day)...
Sans puppy (staying with my other sister for the day)...
To visit our dear, sweet uncle in a land far away...
I thought I must be in heaven.
A whole day! To travel! To see the landscape! To get out of the car and walk into a building without fifty pounds of children and fifty pounds of gear strapped to me!
Heavenly.
Then, as I devoured Five Cheese Crespelle (crepes!) with Chicken at the Olive Garden for lunch, I thought, "Now, THIS is heaven."
Later, as we visited with our uncle and soaked in is wonderfulness, his sweetness, his wisdom, his insight, his life experiences, I thought, "Ah yes, this is heaven."
But just a little later, as we entered a store that I can only describe as new realms of kitchen splendor, I knew... I. was. in. heaven.
Did you know, in heaven, they have...
...a section devoted only to white dishware?
And another section devoted to specialty wine glasses, plates and accessories?
And unique, vibrant, ceramic bowls shaped like flowers?
(I almost purchased these. Then I remembered that I would probably use them .7 times a year, so I exercised some will power. It would also just be one more thing for Mr. Blue Eyes to wash.)
And gorgeous chicken salt and pepper shakers?
(I came even closer to putting these in my basket, and I am in the market for a cute and unique set of salt and pepper shakers -- which we never really use ourselves but would be handy to have around when we have company -- but I just couldn't quite bring myself to spend $17.95 on them. I came close, though. Quite close.)
We were on sensory overload. We were touching things (plates, utensils, dish towels) and smelling things (candles, lotions, soaps) like crazy. And that's not to mention the visual aspect... The colors, so vibrant! The textures... Shiny! Glossy! Soft! Wood! Glass! Colored glass! Pottery! Ceramic! Stainless!
If you'd like, you can read a little about the store, The Grand Depot. Unfortunately / fortunately, they don't appear to sell their items online at this time. This is unfortunate for you, because I know you would love to shop their inventory. This is fortunate for me, because having their things available at the touch of my fingertips could be mighty dangerous.

I could spend hours in a cute kitchen shop. I love them. I don't cook much anymore but I love them.
I should have saved my cute salt and pepper shakers. They were outhouses. I loved them.
One said "full of S" the other said "full of P" I think one of my spawn took them. If they hadn't I'd send 'em to ya. Pretty perfect for all your fancy company.
Full of 'S' and full of 'P'! That's too funny!
Haha too funny about the salt and pepper shakers! Thank you sharing a few pix of the goods that The Grande Depot sells. I've driven past many a time wondering what was in there, but have not stopped in ...yet.
That is too funny - I ummed and ahhed over a similar set of S & P shakers when I was back in Australia last Christmas - I really regret not getting them now, as I've seen nothing similar since.
Probably a very good thing that there is no online shop!
