He Giveth More Grace
November 5, 2011
I woke up this morning and in those first moments of stumbling around in the dark, I had a thought...
Oh no. That post I wrote last night. Was it too much? Should I go delete that? Maybe not too many people have read it yet.
Then I hyperventilated just a little.
(It's a side-effect of wearing your heart on your sleeve.)
I wandered over to the computer and, without my glasses on, leaned in close to read my own words.
The decision?
Keep it.
Keep it up there for all y'all to see. Keep the honesty. Keep the raw. Keep the vulnerable moment.
There's a whole lot in me that wants to put on the brave face, the 'everything's fine' face. And to some extent, it's true: Everything is fine.
We're experiencing no major crises, and I'm thankful for that.
Yet there is this nudging; this nudging to make a shift, reevaluate.
As to where this is all headed, I have no answers. But after spending time in prayer and my Bible this morning, I can say one thing for sure...
He gives more grace, and He gives more grace to share.
When you think you're just about tapped out on being gracious, if you ask Him to, He'll hand you some more. Note the 'if you ask Him to' part of that sentence. It's key.
Speaking of being 'tapped'... If you didn't read my post from a couple days ago, please do, and prayerfully consider helping out a community in need with a well. Click on the graphic in my left sidebar to donate!
I've been walking around humming two hymns today... I Have Decided to Follow Jesus, and... You guessed it... He Giveth More Grace. I had never heard the latter until a sweet old lady sang it as a special song in our church in Colorado, and the sound of her voice has stuck with me ever since. It wasn't that she was such an inspiring performer; it was that she was a woman full with grace.
He Giveth More Grace
He giveth more grace as our burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength as our labors increase;
To added afflictions He addeth His mercy,
To multiplied trials He multiplies peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
His love has no limits, His grace has no measure,
His power no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
