Happy Place
February 8, 2011 Today...
Because it is 10 below.
Because the wind chill is 35 below.
Because it's likely the coldest day of the year.
Because I'm questioning why we moved back to MN and not TX.
Because the right gland in my throat is swollen and my tongue hurts.
Because I've taken so much Zicam, I can't really taste food anymore.
Because Miss Peaches slept with us last night and woke up in coughing fits every hour on the hour.
Because she kicked me in the head three times.
Because I'm in full-on 'I Hate Winter' mode.
Because I must cling to hope.
Because of all these things, I am going to let my mind wander here...
My happy place.
And if you'd like, it can be your happy place too. There's room for everyone!
If you live anywhere near the upper midwest, you need a happy place today.
A place that is bright, warm, and full of color.
Even if it is only in the form of a seed packet.
You know your husband loves you when he finds you drooling over seed packets at the farm and fleet store, in February, and doesn't say a word. Doesn't tease you. Doesn't tell you you don't need them yet. Doesn't even give you a sideways glance.
You know he loves you even more when he lets you purchase ten packets of them.
In February, in Minnesota.
Either that, or he was too amped up from looking at tools to notice.
And now that I think about it, I think he did make a smallish, questioning comment.
But I still think the fact that he let me shoot him down easily and continue on with my seed packet purchasing speaks to his deep and abiding love for me.
Seed packets and his love for me... They're getting me through.
This, along with the knowledge that March 1 is three weeks from today! We're on the home stretch!
Take heart!
We should also take some Zicam, echinacea, garlic, ginkgo biloba and Emergen-C packets, gargle with salt water and do a nasal wash, just for good measure.
But when you're done with all that, take heart! Spring is coming!

Gardening,
Mr. Blue Eyes

Spring's coming!
I'm much the same as you... but instead of looking at flower seed packets today, I'm getting ideas for wedding stuff. For my summer time wedding. In the warm sunshine! It's helping. =)
Sending you some love from Cali! Your seed packets cheered my dreary day too!
the seed packet purchasing story reminds me a bit of a recent Fiesta Ware purchase -- they were bright and beautiful and there was no way I was exiting the store without them -- we're flying out tomorrow for TX, but I don't think it's that warm there either!
Did you hear? We are warming up to 30's and 40's this weekend!! You know we live in a frozen winterland, when the 30's and 40's sound WARM! ;)
You ARE on the home stretch. The days are definitely getting shorter here :-)
Hang in there (you'l be reminding me of this when I am sick of the cold and wet in a few months' time)
