Gifting

I find myself without any little ones to watch for a couple days (other than my own, of course), so I figured it would be a good time to get this Christmas shopping thing nailed. After many moments of wide-eyed wonder interspersed with hyperventilation, I think it's finally finished. For the most part, my list seems to be filled out, and about half of the items have been ordered.

Ahhhhh.

I thought I could share a few items, the fruits of my online shopping labor, with you... You know, in case you are looking for fun ideas too. You know, in case you also get overwhelmed by the entire shopping experience. You know, in case you can relate to my bouts of hyperventilation.

The first one I wanted to show you is this...

Skippyjon Jones books.

I found these at Barnes & Noble, but they are available elsewhere as well. The first thing you need to know is this... These stories are about a 'siamese kitty boy that turns into El Skipito Friskito, a chihuahua, for his superhero antics.'

A siamese kitty that pretends he's a superhero chihuahua?

I couldn't resist.

I did waver for just a second when I went to 'check out' online. I almost removed the couple of books I had picked out from my cart. However, I decided to check out the website, and as soon as the latin music started playing, I was hooked! I can't wait to receive these in the mail!

So, there's fun idea #1.

.....................................................................................................

The other item I purchased (also from Barnes & Noble) is called 'Crazy Forts'...

Basically, it is balls and sticks that you put together to make a frame, then you drape blankets over them to make a fort. Since Little Blue Eyes is constantly trying to construct, pile, and assemble blankets and pillows into various configurations, and then either crawl under them or perch on top of them, I figured this would be right up his alley. However, I think this will be really fun for the even littler ones as well. Even though they won't be able to do any constructing, I'm sure they will like crawling under it!

It's a little spendy... $44.95. But I'll let you in on a little secret. Okay, maybe it's not a secret. But it's something you may not be aware of... If you join the Barnes & Noble Kids' Club (it's free!), they email you a coupon for 30% off one item.

Also, Barnes & Noble has free shipping on orders of $25 or more right now.

.....................................................................................................

For Miss Peaches, I'm getting this magnetic dress-up set...

Also from B&N.

(No. They are not paying me to advertise their stuff. I just like it!)

Miss Peaches is getting to the age where she really likes to play with dolls and babies, and wants to dress them, but it's still a little hard for her to manage. She's also 'getting into fashion'. By 'getting into fashion', I mean that she is not afraid to tell me what she does and does not want to wear. This is so fun! Not.

So, you get the picture... I thought these would be great for her.

If only there were some way I could program these little dolls to sass her when she's trying to dress them.

That would teach her a lesson.

By the way, does anyone know when they're arriving with my Mother of the Year award?

Not today?

Okay.

.....................................................................................................

Okay, one more...

Classic Card Game Set.

Little Blue Eyes is getting to the age where we can play games, and we're embarking upon the dead of winter, so... These just make sense. The other thing I like about them is that they can be a stocking stuffer. Sometimes it's hard to find things to wedge in there!

Also, these last two items, the dress-up doll set and the card games, are by Melissa & Doug. Right now (not sure how long this lasts) B&N are having a 'Buy One Melissa & Doug Item, Get One Half Off'. So there's another little money saving tip for you!

.....................................................................................................

Alright, I'm off to slowly decompress out of Christmas-shopping-mode, and ease myself into Christmas-card-preparation mode. I may need a little hot chocolate to help me make the transition.

Some great gifts! It will be a fun Christmas morning at your house. I wish I could say that I was done with the shopping. Teenagers are not nearly as fun to buy for... :-(
