Full of Promise

Just got back in the house from taking a few photos outside, and my fingers are a bit frozen as I sit down to write. It's a chilly morning, but it is a day full of promise.

There is a lot to do here on our little farm, and with the fall harvest coming, Mr. Blue Eyes' work schedule is about to get a lot more hectic, so today is our day. There's wood piles -- lumber from the shed that got blown down during the storm, among other wood -- to sort through and clean up. There's dead flower bed brush to mow down. There's a new little deck to paint. There's a tree -- which seems to be splitting and threatening to fall down... again, damaged in the storm -- that needs to be cut down. (But we're waiting on the power company to come and handle that one, as it hovers over a power line.)

There's a flower box to be built. There's horse fence to re-do. There are goat hooves to be trimmed. And there's a garden to be cleaned out for the year, with carrots, squash and pumpkins yet to be dealt with.

On the housefront... A house to clean. (Like every other day of the year.) Kids' clothes to sort through. A garage to clean out. Windows to clean. Preparation for guests next weekend. Kids to bathe, groom, and generally shape the future of.

And on the blogfront... Applesauce and tomato sauce recipes to share. A new 'October' banner to generate. Thoughts on tomato growing to jot down.

It's not all going to happen today of course. Some of it might not even happen this year. At least I don't live in fear of boredom.

Whew... I'm exhausted already, and we haven't even begun! I'd better get moving!

This is what I have observed to be good: that it is appropriate for a person to eat, to drink and to find satisfaction in their toilsome labor under the sun during the few days of life God has given them—for this is their lot. Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil—this is a gift of God. Ecclesiastes 5:18-19

Hi there,
I'm finally getting some time to visit and your new (well - maybe not so new to you) - blog layout looks wonderful!!
Love seeing where you are up to with your change of season, and it feels like just yesterday that I was admiring your first pics of snow.

Enjoy the chores - I think we have a similar list, just the spring version!

I hope you were able to get some stuff completed. Sounds like an overwhelming list.

It feels like Fall here and I'm not sure I'm entirely happy about it.
I know what lies ahead and I'm not ready. It's been such a great summer.

I'm curious to know what you are doing with the tomatoes. I've got to pick the rest of mine this year and I'm going to need some ideas.

Have a blessed Sabbath.
