Dairy: The Why Not
May 25, 2011 I'll just say it... I love dairy. I totally love cheese. Who doesn't?
I love it all, especially the really pungent ones... Cheddar, bleu, chevre.
Yum, yum, and yum.
So why have I given up dairy?
First off, let me link you up with this article, by Dr. Mark Hyman... Dairy: 6 Reasons You Should Avoid it at All Costs. This was the article that convinced me to try giving up dairy.
I'm going to keep this short and sweet: My personal reasons for giving up dairy were migraines, post nasal drip, and chronic sinus congestion. Pretty simple.
So far I've been almost completely off dairy for a little over a month now. The result? Sinus congestion is gone, other than a morning or two of a little (and I mean very little) stuffiness. Post nasal drip is gone. Migraines -- both frequency and duration -- are GREATLY reduced. I have had three migraines since going off dairy, and I was able to get through all three with NO DRUGS. If you've had migraines, you know this is pretty amazing. And both the second and third migraines were much more mild and short in duration.
Another bonus... Physical symptoms of PMS for the last two months running was also GREATLY reduced.
That's all I'm going to say about that, otherwise my brother will stop reading my blog again. But it is definitely worth mentioning for all my women readers!
And that's all I'm going to say about giving up dairy, because that's about all there is to it! I will not, shall not, must not tell you that you should give up dairy too. What you put in your body is a very personal decision. However, if knowing what I've experienced helps anyone else out in their journey toward better health, I'm happy to share!

Wow, girl! You rock! I love cheese too. So much. I think I like it more than dessert! Is that possible? haha! I was just thinking about your dietary changes and wondering how it was going and voila, you posted about it! Sounds like you are seeing a lot of positives! :-)
Certainly something for me to be thinking about. I'm such a migrainer.
I'm off to read the article.
