Crossroads

We're mostly over the stomach flu.

We ARE over the stomach flu.

Except I keep sweating.

The temperatures are moderate outdoors, and the air conditioning is on, yet sweating I remain.

I'm not sure how to deal with this other than to continue to apply large amounts of my Tom's deodorant.

And stroll casually (not run... because that would make me sweat even more) naked around the house.

It's all I know to do.

Not really.

But let's pretend that it is.

You'll be happy to know I'm not really strolling naked around the house. Why? Because I'm a mother. And this means two things...

1) My kids are now getting to the age where they actually notice that I'm naked. And they're also getting to the age where they may retain some of their memories into adulthood. Me, strolling around naked, is not something I particularly want them to remember.

2) Again, I'm a mother. This means I have given birth. Twice, to be exact. This has given me what one might refer to as a 'mama bod', or a 'mom-style body'. There just ain't no reason to be strutting all that around. Sweating, or not.

Oh, mercy. Now I've gone from strolling to strutting. Somebody stop this runaway train.

When I began typing, I did have a point. And it had nothing to do with nakedness.

Or sweating.

I'm struggling with a couple of things:

1) What direction to take the writing here on my blog. (If today's post is any indication, I'm obviously failing miserably in this area.)

2) Pre-school for Little Blue Eyes.

The Blogging Dilemma

I've just been pondering, a little bit, in my spare time (a.k.a. the five minutes between when I lay my head on the pillow at night and actually falling asleep) what I should do about the various pages here on my site. I haven't written on my cooking or photography pages in ages. I'm just increasingly in the place where writing on my main page is all I can squeeze in. So do I just merge it all into one main blog, and forget diversification? Or do I diversify, but in a different way? I'd really love to do a 'Health & Home' page, and/or a 'Garden' page.

What about a 'Health/Home/Garden/Cooking/Photography' page, all merged into one?!?

Yes, that makes perfect sense.

I'm so glad we talked this out.

Little Blue Eyes and the Pre-School Dilemma...

Let me let you in on a leetle something... For the longest time, I thought I was going to be one of those home-schooling mamas. It wasn't even really a question. Mr. Blue Eyes and I were pretty much decided this was the way we wanted to go.

Then, last winter, something shifted in my consciousness.

I think it mostly had something to do with realizing that I simply can't do it all. If I didn't have to work, things would be different. But I do. And Little Blue Eyes really is ready for a school environment. And we have a couple of good schools to choose from, so why not take advantage of what they offer?

So, we started exploring the local school options, and decided that he would attend pre-school this year. It seemed like it would work out alright, because my husband could come home over his lunch hour to take him to school, and he could ride the bus home.

But now it doesn't seem like it will work for Mr. Blue Eyes to come do this on the days we need him to. And that just makes life more complicated. So, do I just do pre-school as homeschool for this year? Or not? Do we make it work somehow?

It's really not a huge deal. Just one of those things that needs figuring out.

I'm stuck in that place of idealizing how I would like for things to be, and wrapping my mind around the reality of what needs to be.

What IS a HUGE deal, however, is the fact that I now have a child who is old enough to start pre-school. While the rational side of my brain is trying to figure out the best way to go about this process, the irrational, hormonally-charged mother side of my brain is trying not to have heart-palpitations. I have no desire to have him back as my 'baby'... I love seeing the little boy he is becoming. But it seems like we have come to this point so quickly.

This does not help my sweating situation.

It's summer...summer is busy...good/fun busy, but busy all the same. cooking posts can wait til winter...when there is not much else to do. except then, i suppose you won't have all the fresh fruits and veggies from busy busy summer to feature. So, maybe, take pics of your fruits and vegies now, blog them in the winter. Either way, don't quit blogging, I like your style!!

Thanks, Cheryl. That's just the kind of encouragement, and reality check, I need!

I didn't know you were even thinking about homeschooling! It really doesn't take as much time as you would think... especially in the early years. Anyway, my advice is just to pray! God will lead you to what is right for your family. Homeschooling is definitely not for everyone. Tough decision, good luck! Jesse
