My Best Shot Monday - Fresh

I just needed to post this picture today because I needed a dose of summer, of sunshine, of freshness.
Because things around here are definitely not 'fresh'.
All the beautiful, fluffy, sparkling snow that fell on Thursday has now started to melt, leaving behind dry dirt, dry foliage and dirty snow patches. Today the wind has picked up (blech...) and the sky is overcast.
Not fresh... Frozen.
After a somewhat chaotic day yesterday, I'm not all that fresh either. I have, however, managed to get a shower in and now am sipping on some Emergen-C, so things are looking up on that front.
Anyhow, when I ran across this picture, my senses screamed, "Yes!" This needed to be my best shot today.
This is the first time Little Blue Eyes ever touched fresh green grass. He was about 7 months old. We were doing a photo shoot of sorts over at our lovely neighbors' house on their lawn. They and Mr. Blue Eyes were standing in the background... trying to get him to smile... spotting him in case he tipped over... and I was laying in the grass clicking away. It was a beautiful summer day.
I remember, as I was taking these shots, thinking how special it was to capture that moment... The moment that he first put his little hand into the prickly-soft green blades. After a long winter of growing and sleeping and eating and developing, he could now sit in the sunshine and begin to become part of his world.
Even now my mind flashes forward to his future... Grass-stained knees, taking a nap on a picnic blanket, holding out handfuls of grass for a horse to nibble on, playing a game of family football out on the lawn. These are memories I look forward to him creating for himself and for me.
